Questions
Questions parents ask
Admission and fees
What is the age cut-off?
Playgroup 2 years, Nursery 3, Jr KG 4, Sr KG 5; Marathi medium शिशु गट 3, लहान गट 4, मोठा गट 5. The age is counted on 30 June (State board and Marathi medium) or 31 March (CBSE) of the year the school year starts. The age checker above does this for you.
Is there a grace period?
If the birthday falls between 1 and 15 July, please talk to the school — we will confirm the right class.
What is the difference between English and Marathi medium?
Both follow the same Montessori, play-way approach. English medium runs Playgroup to Sr KG at the Gaonbhag and Sangli Road branches in the morning; Marathi medium runs शिशु, लहान and मोठा गट at our Montessori Balmandir, Gaonbhag, in the afternoon (12:30–3:30).
What are the fees?
Fees are shared on enquiry. Call us on +91 90110 32851 or WhatsApp +91 74997 68838.
Can fees be paid in instalments?
Yes. The instalment schedule is available at the school office.
Can my child join in the middle of the year?
Yes. Children can join during the year whenever a seat is free in their class.
Can my child attend a trial day before joining?
Yes — your child can attend a 3-day trial before you decide.
How are seats given — first come, first served?
Each class has a limited number of seats, so we suggest enquiring early.
Is transport available?
The school does not run its own transport. We know local rickshaw drivers (“Rickshaw Mama”) and can put you in touch, but the arrangement is between the parents and the driver, and the school is not responsible for it.
Settling in
Can I stay at school for the first few days?
Yes — please do. For the first week we ask a parent to stay with the child. Then you sit outside, out of your child’s sight, for a few hours. Only when your child is comfortable do we ask you to leave. This usually takes a week or a little more.
What if my child cries when I leave?
A teacher stays close and gently tells your child that you will be back soon. Meanwhile we play the games they like, colour a picture, make new friends, play in the sandpit or draw on the school blackboards. If anything has changed at home — a new baby, moving house, or illness in the family — please let us know, so we can give your child a little extra care. We keep such information confidential.
My child is not talking much yet. Should they still join?
Yes, they should. We have seen tremendous growth in children who find talking hard: with friendly classmates and teachers, they often start speaking faster than they do at home.
We speak Marathi or Hindi at home. Will my child cope in English medium?
Yes. We use three languages at school. In Playgroup we first talk to each child in their mother tongue, so they understand us. As they settle in, we slowly bring in the other languages. By the time they move up a class, they are comfortable.
Does my child need to be toilet-trained?
No. Please make it a habit that your child uses the toilet at home before coming to school. During the morning our staff take children to the washroom after each activity.
Daily care and health
What should my child bring every day?
A school bag, a tiffin bag and a napkin.
What food can I send in the tiffin?
We share a day-wise food chart prepared by an expert nutritionist, so that children get balanced food that supports their growth. We kindly request parents to follow it.
What should I do if my child is unwell?
Please consult your doctor first. Even if the doctor says your child is fine but your child still does not feel well, kindly let them rest at home that day — please don’t force them to come. Your child is welcome back as soon as they feel better. If a child falls ill at school, we call the parents straight away and a teacher keeps the child resting comfortably until you arrive. For infectious illnesses such as chickenpox, conjunctivitis (eye flu) or a viral fever, kindly keep your child at home until the doctor says they are fit to return, so that other children stay safe.
How are birthdays celebrated?
Every birthday is celebrated on the day itself, at prayer time: the whole school sings “Happy Birthday” together. The birthday child wears a birthday boy / birthday girl badge all day and may come in a colour dress instead of the uniform.
Do children watch screens at school?
Only short rhymes, stories and learning videos as part of a lesson, with a teacher. confirm
How often are classrooms and toys cleaned?
All toys are cleaned every week, and our washrooms are well maintained and child-friendly.
Safety and staff
Is the school safe?
Yes. Classrooms have CCTV, there is one teacher for every 20 children, children go home only with verified adults, teachers are trained in first aid, there is a hospital near every branch, and we follow the local body’s fire-safety norms.
Who can pick up my child?
The admission form asks for the details of the people who will pick up your child. If someone else comes, we do not send the child with them until we have called you to confirm. You can also call or message us in advance with that person’s name and mobile number, so we can verify them.
How are teachers chosen and trained? Are background checks done?
Teachers are selected after a thorough interview process, and every teacher must submit a police verification certificate before joining. All our teachers also take part in continuous training throughout the year, including first aid.
How do you handle discipline?
Gently. We teach children to share, take turns and respect each other, and to say “sorry”, “please” and “thank you”. When two children disagree, the teacher helps them sort it out calmly. If we notice an unwanted habit, we first try to understand why it is happening and then guide the child towards a better one. We never use punishment, and if needed we talk with the parents so that home and school work together.
Parents and communication
How will the school keep me informed?
We send notices for holidays, events and dress codes on WhatsApp, in English and Marathi. Every two months we hold a parent–teacher meeting, where we meet each parent one-to-one, listen to any concerns and share your child’s progress.
How can parents take part?
Through our parent participation programme, celebrations and free workshops for parents.
Do children go on outings?
Yes. We go on 3–4 field visits a year to places within about 5 km of the school, and on one annual trip.
